This posting is to show all of the birds we saw on our Audubon sponsored Birding by Boat trip. Not much commentary here – just the names of what you are seeing – when I know.
The first thing that they pointed out was this Ladder Backed Terrapin & Least Terns

Ruddy Turnstones and an Osprey on a nest

Common Loon and some Brant (a type of goose)

Semipalmated Plover and Oyster Catcher

Eagles

Purple Sandpiper

More Ospreys nesting – not sure we could count how many nests we saw, and most of them had a bird sitting in them. They use lots of things we throw away to make their nests.

Dunlin and Spotted Sandpiper

Short Billed Dowitcher and there were many places where we saw a mess of shorebirds – several different kinds bunched together – the guide would try to point out anything that he found interesting. there are probably Dunlin, Sanderlings. several different pipers and plovers in these next few photos.

Willet in flight and a Semipalmated Plover

Double-crested Cormorants and three birds they said didn’t belong together – a Black Scoter, a Willet and a Least Sandpiper

This nesting area had Laughing Gulls at one end and Least Terns at the other.

Great Egret and Oyster Catcher

There were places like this, where you would glance quickly and say nothing was there, and then you would realize those aren’t all rocks, but that there are Least Sandpipers everywhere

Black Bellied Plover in Breeding Plumage

Dunlin – they have a dark patch on their underbelly

Whimbrel and Short-billed Dowitcher

More Willets in flight

White Ibis and Black-Crested Heron

Great Egret, Snowy Egret and Green Heron

Willet and Short-billed Dowitcher

Yellow-Crested Heron and Snowy Egret

???? and a Whimbrel in Flight

Lesser Black-backed Gull and a Great Black-backed Gull in the left picture and a Surf Scoter in the right picture.

The Surf Scoter was the last bird picture I took on the tour – which was a great trip! The three-hour tour didn’t feel that long for us, but maybe it did for you if you made it through all of these pictures! Congratulations!
