We are on the road again. We left on Saturday, April 15 – yes that was before tax day, but with Patriot’s Day on Monday I was not doing taxes, so it was a good day to leave. We headed to Bloomsburg, PA – to see my cousin Robyn and her husband Billy. It was a long day of driving, so our only stops were for fuel and lunch. We arrived about 5:30 and after getting the RV situated and giving a tour, Robyn had a wonderful spaghetti dinner ready for us. It was an evening of catching up and reminiscing.
Sunday we spent the day touring Bloomsburg and the surrounding area. Robyn and Billy are involved in the local Blues music scene and we saw two of the venues where they help produce shows. We also drove by some places where we used to have Madara family reunions, as well as the house where my dad grew up. We ended the day at the Berwick Brewery for pizza and beer and cider. Then it was back to the house for more visiting.
Monday was another travel day, down I81 to Virginia – but we did get off the highway and drive down US11, which parallels 81, so we got to see some of the smaller towns along the way.
We had another day of traveling on Tuesday, to get to Boone, NC, where we are visiting with my college roommate Terry and her wife Donna – but more of that next time.
Onto the pictures!

It was a windy drive on Tuesday – Trish did a great job driving!

I do have one other story to tell – which is our latest misadventure with the RV. When I went to make the bed up last Thursday, the slide would not go out. we made sure it was charged up overnight and tried again on Friday morning – no luck. I managed to get an appointment with our repair shop on Friday afternoon, and they diagnosed it as a bad controller board – not something that folks keep in stock. After watching some YouTube video It seemed to be a fairly simple swap, so we had them order the part and send it to Terry’s. I did the install but that didn’t solve the problem. It took several calls, but I was able to get an appointment with a mobile RV tech for Thursday, if we were willing to drive the RV for 30 miles. We jumped at it, and after 1.5 hours, he was successful. We were very grateful, as sleeping above the cab for me, and on the dropped down dining room table for Trish, was getting very tiresome. A relief that we have it solved and will be able to continue the trip in comfort.

The old controller on the left with the new one on the right – you might notice the numbers are different – that’s partially what caused it not to work when I installed it – but the RV tech knew more about electrical circuits and was able to figure out what was going on.
The real Boone adventures coming soon.
